A-Frame Reno - Exterior

Image
Because the house is large, and my craft room is on the small side, I needed the house to be mobile so I was easily able to move it around and out of the way.  I placed the three sections of the house on separate boards with casters so the house can roll easily.  The boards are connected with hinges and latches, so that they can be locked in place or opened up to access the individual rooms.   I trimmed out the boards with a grass mat I purchased on Amazon so that I had a little bit of a garden, and added a picket fence, potting bench, and topiary. I am still hoping to add some comfy seating and a fire pit to the back yard someday!  Hope you enjoyed my A-Frame reno project!

A-Frame Reno - Kitchen

Let's take a look at the kitchen!  Remember this blank space?   So far, I have made everything myself other than the tub and toilet that came with the house.  So, I will confess that I cheated a bit here and bought the appliances for the kitchen!  I wanted them to be realistic and was afraid that was a bit beyond my skill set.  They are from the Rainbow High house.  They came with the little plastic stool, which was clear, so I painted it silver.          I built the cabinets and counters from craft wood and fiber board.  The handles are wire, with bead trim. The sink is a container from the dollar store, spray painted silver, with a hardware hook for the faucet.  The cabinets do open - they attach with magnets - and the little drawer opens.  The backsplash is made from puffy stickers from the dollar store.   I also printed out packaging from the internet and made some little totes for shoppi...

A-Frame Reno - Living Room

Image
While we're here, let's talk about the windows!  I said before that I was inspired by Matilda Pink 's A-Frame renovation, and I especially loved the windows.  So I decided to trim out all of my windows in a similar fashion. I just love them!   I knew I wanted to close off the doorway in the living room.  I used a piece of wainscoting and simply painted it white and glued it in place:   I printed out some book covers available on the internet and used blank paper for the pages.  Then I built a bookcase to hold them, made to fit perfectly in that space. For the couch, I used a large piece of foam packaging from some computer equipment, covered it with fabric from the dollar store, and added some cute throw pillows and an area rug made out of a canvas bag! I made a tv stand out of some craft wood from the dollar store, which I stained with a nice oak stain.  I made the tv out of a plastic dollar store chalkboard, after painting the frame black....

A-Frame Reno - Entry

Along with the kitchen, this room experienced the biggest transformation!  Let's take a look back at what it looked like before: So, really nothing to it - just an empty space!  For the flooring, I wanted something special.  I chose this vinyl tile from the local home improvement store - which I purchased for $1.19.  It fit the space perfectly, and I feel like it makes the space look extra special! I knew that I didn't want a big opening in the back, so I decided to close it off.  I decided to add a fireplace!  It is a couple of inches deep, so that I have space for some logs.      I added a chimney on the exterior, which I designed to enclose both the back of the fireplace and the closet bump out on the second floor.  The whole thing is made of cardboard, wrapped in patterned contact paper.    For the fire, I cut up a branch and used the inside of a battery-operated votive candle for the flame!    I added ...
