1978 A-Frame Remodel - Introduction

If you're an A-Frame purist, this post might not be for you!   But if you enjoy a good dollhouse reno, I hope you'll love this one.

As a kid, I owned the original yellow and red 1978 Barbie A-Frame Dreamhouse.  I spent hours upon hours playing with that dollhouse - so many happy memories!  I don't remember what happened to it - but I imagine that when I became a "grownup," I got rid of it, along with my other toys.

Recently, I had been searching online for the A-Frame, just to see if they were still around and what they were going for.  If you're a fan, you know that you can find them in varying condition for anywhere between $150-$300, or up to $5,000 NIB!  As luck would have it, I came across one for sale on Facebook Marketplace for a mere $60.   What a steal!

I was happy enough to have reclaimed this piece of my childhood.  But an online search opened my eyes to the idea of a re-do.  Could I give my own A-Frame a renaissance of sorts?  Breathe new life into this special little house, which had brought me so many happy childhood memories?

Those who know me in real life know I love a good reno.  I have redone most of the rooms in my home myself.  The idea was too tempting to pass up.  When I came across Matilda Pink's blog post, I fell in love with the black and white theme, especially the windows.  I didn't even hesitate.  On a cold January day, I brought my A-Frame out into the yard and used up all the spray paint we had in the house to paint it.  From there, it was six weeks of creating - painting, building, sewing, gluing, crocheting, and crafting. Almost everything in the house was made by hand.  It was a true labor of love and I hope you like the results!
